The ICPU’s Case Review Unit plays a vital role in investigating cases where children have been grossly failed by the very system meant to protect them.
The Case Review Unit is a specialized, independent body dedicated to restoring accountability and driving systemic improvement within the child protection sector.
We are not a government agency, but a professional unit providing objective, evidence-based oversight.
Our mission is to move beyond mere critique to deliver actionable solutions that safeguard the interests of children.
We serve both external clients—desperate families seeking answers and justice—and professional organizations, including welfare, police, legal sector and other government and non-government bodies, that are committed to identifying and remedying their internal failures.
By rigorously analyzing critical case files, policy breaches, and financial compliance, we ensure that failures are converted into profound organizational learning, ultimately building a more ethical, efficient, and child-centred system.
The Case Review Unit comprises highly qualified specialists in their respective professional fields. However, all findings, reports, and recommendations issued by the CRU are provided strictly in a consulting capacity for the purpose of systemic analysis, policy improvement and guidance.
CRU reports and recommendations do not constitute legal advice.
Should the analysis indicate a need for legal, disciplinary, or clinical specialist intervention, the CRU report will explicitly recommend this course of action and provide a referral to an independent, accredited practitioner approved by the Unit. The client remains responsible for engaging and acting upon any such external professional advice.
